Description
"Ichigo Ichie" – every encounter is unique: this well-known guiding principle of the Japanese tea ceremony adorns this shikishi in bold, slightly archaic-looking brushwork. A multi-line signature with a red seal attests to the hand of a calligrapher, while the dating points to the Shôwa period (1926–1989).
The idea that a moment never returns and should therefore be lived with full attention is one of the central values of Japanese aesthetics. On the firm, square mounting board – the shikishi – the calligraphy appears especially striking through its energetic brushwork and is excellently suited as a small, meaningful wall object.
Please note: only the shikishi itself is included in delivery; the frame shown in the photos serves only to illustrate the presentation and can be ordered separately from us.
