Description
A single, clearly and evenly composed character dominates this shikishi: "Wa" – Harmony. Just a few, but precisely executed brushstrokes are enough to give the term a calm, almost meditative presence, complemented by a multi-line signature and a red seal at the right edge.
Harmony is considered one of the central ideals of human coexistence in Japanese culture and appears as a guiding principle in art, architecture, and everyday life alike. Created in the Shôwa period (1926–1989), this calligraphy on traditional, sturdy mounting board combines clear form with profound meaning.
