Description
Between deep black and foamy white glaze, this Raku ware tea bowl unfolds a particular tension that only the traditional Raku firing technique can produce. Small air bubbles and irregular glaze drips give each piece a unique, unrepeatable character.
The bowl was made in the 1990s by master potter Jiho Ueyama, who skillfully combines the hand-formed, slightly irregular silhouette typical of Raku with a calm basic form.
A signed wooden box is included and makes the piece a worthy collector's item for lovers of the Japanese tea ceremony.
