Description
The two natural stones of this fuchin set shimmer in a sunny, honey-yellow tone, their cloudy, warm pattern recalling a calm autumn sky. Combined with the olive-green silk tassels, this creates a harmonious, nature-inspired color mood that suits hanging scrolls with landscape or plant motifs well.
Like all fuchin, these two weights were made to be attached to the lower ends of a hanging scroll. There, they ensure that the hanging scroll does not warp or become misshapen while hanging, tighten the picture surface, and at the same time stabilize the entire composition. The carefully crafted tassel heads with their fine, net-like wrapping show the attention to detail typical of high-quality kumihimo accessories.
As a used set of two from the Shôwa period, this pair of fuchin shows age-related signs of wear that attest to its long practical use. Besides its function as a weight, it also always serves as a visual highlight that harmoniously rounds off the lower edge of a hanging scroll and lends the overall picture an additional, natural warmth.
