Description
Dense banks of fog drift through a rugged mountain gorge in this kakemono, out of which scattered fir trees and two thatched-roof huts emerge from the haze. The restrained, almost monochrome ink work creates a quiet, almost floating atmosphere in which the boundaries between rock, forest, and sky blur into one another.
In particular, the two striking rock peaks at the center of the composition set bold, dark accents against the lighter, fog-shrouded surfaces, lending the landscape a convincing sense of spatial depth.
