The Seven Lucky Gods, namely Hotei, Jurojin, Daikoku, Benten, Ebisu, Fukurokuju and Bishamon, are a group of fortune-bringing deities from Japanese Shinto. Each of the seven deities represents a particular immaterial or material value such as contentment, wisdom or prosperity. According to a legend, the seven gods sail into the harbor on a treasure ship at New Year and bring the seven treasures with them.
