Description
This tea bowl made of Hagi ware dates from the Showa period, its gently earthy, faintly reddish shimmering glaze reflecting the long tradition of this famous pottery region in Yamaguchi.
The chawan was made by the Japanese master potter Hirose Tanga, whose calm, even shaping gives the bowl a restrained, elegant presence – entirely in keeping with traditional Japanese tea culture.
With its warm, unobtrusive coloring, this bowl is a fine example of classic Hagi ware and is suitable both for the tea ceremony and as a decorative collector's item.
