Description
Gentle transitions from creamy beige to warm caramel brown run across the wall of this tea bowl like a sunset, while fine, net-like crackles in the glaze lend the surface a velvety, almost lifelike texture. The slightly irregular rim and the thinly trailing glaze at the foot are reminders that each piece was hand-formed.
The Chawan is crafted in the Hagi style, one of the most famous Japanese ceramic traditions, known for its porous, breathable glaze and its ability to change color over time and with use.
