Description
A young woman in a light green, finely striped kimono, her head tilted slightly to the side as she draws one hand across her face – an unassuming, almost intimate moment.
The image is painted on silk, with jikusaki made of bone as a high-quality finish for the roller rods.
The clear contour lines and the restrained palette of green, orange, and black lend the depiction an elegant reticence, leaving the viewer ample room for individual interpretation. The elaborately arranged hairstyle with hairpin and comb, as well as the patterned obi, point to refined urban taste, as it was often depicted in Bijinga painting.
The Kakemono comes in its own wooden box and makes a stylish, unobtrusive piece of art for the Tokonoma.
