Description
A smaller, black lacquered tea container (Chu-Natsume), the lid and body of which are decorated with autumn-colored foliage in orange and gold – a motif that captures the fleeting beauty of autumn in enduring lacquer.
This Natsume is the work of Heian Koshun.
The leaves are rendered in varying shapes and gradations of color, from delicate yellow to vivid orange, creating the impression of a gentle breeze carrying the leaves across the surface. Autumn leaf motifs are among the most popular seasonal designs in tea culture and are traditionally used during the autumn months for the tea ceremony.
The container comes in a wooden box signed by the master, making it a stylish utensil for the tea ceremony as well as a decorative collector's item.
