Description

Nestled among gentle, mist-covered hills, a small farmstead crouches beneath dark pines – a quiet landscape scene rendered in delicate gray tones, full of still atmosphere. A few touches of color subtly accentuate the roof of the house.

This piece is a so-called Makuri, meaning a painting not yet mounted as a Kakejiku – accordingly, only the picture itself is supplied, without mounting or roller. This offers the possibility of having the work mounted or framed according to one's own taste.

Painted on paper, this landscape painting was created in the Shôwa period (1926–1989) and captivates with its restrained, poetic pictorial language. An appealing piece for collectors who appreciate Japanese ink painting in its original, unmounted form.
