Description

Angular yet harmonious in form, this sake bottle made of Bizen ware reveals a fascinating interplay of gray ash glaze along the upper rim and warm, reddish-orange firing tones across the body. Fine, net-like traces run like veins over the shoulder of the bottle.

As is typical for Bizen ware, the coloration arises solely from the interplay of clay, fire, and ash in the wood-fired kiln – entirely without glaze or painted decoration. Each piece is thus a unique work with its own character.

The simple, angular silhouette makes this tokkuri a timeless companion for traditional sake culture as well as a decorative object for lovers of Japanese ceramic art.
