Description

A narrow waterfall cascades between moss-covered rocks into a tranquil pond, framed by gnarled pines whose needles seem to sway in the wind - a lively, colorful mountain landscape full of movement and freshness. Tones of green, ochre, and brown combine into a harmonious overall image.

Waterfall motifs are traditionally regarded in Japanese painting as a symbol of purity and the unstoppable power of nature, and were often depicted in combination with pines, which stand for constancy and long life. The combination of both elements makes this Shikishi a particularly auspicious pictorial subject.

A Shikishi is a firm, square mounting board for painting and calligraphy. Please note: only the Shikishi itself is supplied; the mount shown serves merely as illustration and can be ordered separately from us. A fresh, nature-connected motif with pleasantly clear coloring.
