Description

A fine, understated luster and a soft crackle define the first impression of this Kyoto chawan by Seizan Hoki. The pale glaze shows subtle nuances between ivory and pale green, into which a delicate branch with leaves and a bright yellow fruit has been worked. The motif appears deliberately reduced and harmonizes with the calm overall mood of the vessel.

The shape is slightly irregular, with softly flowing contours that sit comfortably in the hand. When turned, the surface reveals subtle shifts in color and small firing marks that give the piece its individual character. Inside, the pale glaze continues, creating a clear stage for the tea.

Included is a signed wooden box that confirms provenance and authenticity and honors the chawan as a carefully crafted piece of the Kyoto ware tradition.
