Description
A deep green, velvety-looking glaze lies like moss over this handcrafted tea bowl, shifting depending on the light between dark forest green and warm copper tones. The slightly curved, organically shaped form with its grippable walls sits comfortably in the hand and makes the careful craftsmanship, rooted in the Ohi tradition, immediately palpable.
Ohi ware is among the most tradition-rich styles of Japanese tea ceramics and is known for its earthy glazes, often held in warm green and brown tones, which make each bowl a unique work. This tea bowl bears the signature of Buzan Izukura, which, accompanied by a red seal, is also found on the accompanying wooden box and attests to the piece's provenance.
The bowl is delivered in this wooden box, specially inscribed and signed by the master potter, which documents its authenticity and ensures safe storage.
