Description
Soft wisps of mist drift over a quiet river, spanned by a narrow suspension bridge, while moss-covered cliffs and gnarled pines rise along the bank. The restrained coloring in shades of green and gray creates an almost floating, tranquil atmosphere.
In the background, a small farmstead can be glimpsed between the mountains, a detail that lends the vast landscape a human scale. The kakemono was created in the Heisei period (1989–2019) on paper and continues the long tradition of Japanese sansui landscape painting.
The jikusaki made of bone complements the carefully executed classical mounting. A calm, contemplative hanging scroll that is excellently suited to rooms where the quiet beauty of Japanese nature depiction should come into its own.
