Description
Made entirely without glaze, formed solely through the interplay of flame and ash in the wood-fired kiln, this Bizen sake set displays the earthy, warm color palette typical of the Okayama region, ranging from sandy beige to deep reddish-brown.
The set consists of a bulbous sake flask and two matching drinking cups, whose rough, tactile surface clearly reveals the traditional hand-forming technique. The subtly shifting color gradients make each piece a unique work in its own right.
The clear, understated form of the set makes it a timeless companion for a stylish sake gathering as well as a decorative ensemble for collectors of traditional Japanese ceramics.
