Description
This sake bottle made of Bizen ware dates from the Showa period, its earthy red and gray tones characteristic of the centuries-old firing tradition of the Okayama region. Entirely without glaze, the shifting color gradations arise solely from flame, ash, and the long firing time in the wood-fired kiln.
Master potter Shuzo Ogawa shaped the bottle with clear, organic lines and a distinctive, slightly flared neck, lending the piece a quiet elegance.
It is delivered in a wooden box signed by the artist, which identifies the piece as an authentic work and is excellently suited for storage – an asset to any collection of traditional Japanese ceramics or pottery, or as a special gift for sake lovers.
