Description
With calm yet deliberate brushwork, this kakemono captures the meaning 'Pure Heart' – a central ideal of Zen Buddhism representing a clear mind free of distractions. The balanced distribution of black ink and empty space gives the calligraphy a meditative, almost floating effect.
The work bears the signature and seal of Adachi Taido (1937–2009), a monk of the Rinzai Zen school. As a religious dignitary and calligrapher, he combined spiritual practice with artistic expression in his works, lending his calligraphies a distinctive authenticity that endures to this day.
Written on paper and fitted with a jikusaki made of wood, this handwritten unique work is delivered including a signed wooden box – a meaningful piece for spaces of stillness and contemplation.
