Description
A luminous yellow, crossed by fine, net-like dark crackle lines, makes this small sake cup a real eye-catcher. The guinomi was created using the Hasami-yaki technique, a ceramics tradition known for bold, clear glaze colors and a high degree of craftsmanship. It bears the stamp of Akitoshi Kurosaki, whose works are characterized by bold coloring and a calm, even form.
The glossy glaze covers the vessel down to just above the foot, revealing the natural, light-colored body beneath. In raking light, the surface reveals a fine crackle pattern that lends the cup additional depth and grows more characterful with every use.
Conceived as a small vessel for sake, the guinomi sits comfortably in the hand and is delivered in a wooden box signed by the master potter, which further enhances the piece as a collector's item. A highlight for anyone who appreciates Japanese ceramics with a clear color language and fine crackle, created in the Shōwa period.
