Description
Coarsely structured and featuring a rough-looking, iridescent surface in shades of pink, gray, and brown, this guinomi made of Tanba ware reveals its particularly primal side. The organically irregular shape with its wavy rim underscores the handcrafted, barely tamed character of this piece.
Tanba is among the oldest pottery traditions in Japan and is especially known for its natural glaze effect, often shaped by ash deposits, which produces an individual, never exactly repeatable result with each piece.
This guinomi comes from Onishi Masafumi and is delivered in a wooden box signed by the master potter. As a handcrafted unique work, it is an impressive, earthy collector's piece.
