Description

Delicate color tones and a finely structured surface lend this chawan by Masayoshi Kato its distinctive elegance. Made of Shino ware, the glaze shows a gentle interplay of rosé, ivory, and vividly red accents that unfold their own dynamic during firing. The delicate crackle structure runs across the surface like a fine net and underscores the lively depth of the glaze.

The slightly asymmetrical shape follows the traditional aesthetic of wabi-sabi – a beauty found in imperfection and natural expression. Despite its powerful appearance, the bowl feels calm and harmonious, ideal for the meditative moment of the tea ceremony.

The chawan is kept in a signed wooden box, which attests to its origin and authenticity. A remarkable example of contemporary Shino art that combines craftsmanship precision with poetic simplicity.
