Description

A tea bowl with a pale, creamy white Shino glaze, beneath which delicate characters and fine crackle lines can be discerned – a decoration reminiscent of a message inscribed within the glaze. The warm, slightly grainy surface of the glaze shows the irregularities typical of Shino ware, which arise from the natural flow of the glaze during firing and make each bowl a unique work.

The compact, slightly rounded form with a subtly irregular rim sits well in the hand and follows the classic chawan tradition, which deliberately dispenses with strict symmetry.

The bowl comes in a wooden box signed by the master potter, which confirms its provenance and serves as a dignified storage for daily or ceremonial use.
