Description
A Shino tea bowl thrown in the 1980s, with a dense, darkly speckled glaze that shifts between warm shades of gray and brown, lending the bowl an earthy, grounded presence. The slightly irregular walls with their organically shaped rim follow the classic chawan tradition, which deliberately dispenses with strict symmetry and instead allows the potter's hand to remain visible.
The fine, almost metallically shimmering texture of the glaze results from the typical reaction of the Shino recipe in the kiln, making each piece a unique work.
The bowl comes in a wooden box stamped with the seal of the master potter and is suited both for daily tea preparation and as a standalone collector's piece of modern Shino ware.
