Description
Bold copper green, the characteristic feature of Oribe ware, spreads across parts of this guinomi and creates a vivid contrast with the lighter, cream-colored areas of the glaze. This deliberate asymmetry in form and coloring is the hallmark of the Oribe tradition, shaped in the late 16th century by the tea master Furuta Oribe.
Oribe ware is considered one of the most individualistic and playful styles of Japanese tea ceramics – a deliberate break with strict ideals of symmetry in favor of spontaneity and artistic freedom. This guinomi comes from Kimura Yoshimasa and is delivered in a wooden box signed by the master potter. As a handcrafted unique work, it brings the vivid, unconventional aesthetic of the Oribe tradition to every sake gathering.
