Description

A small sake cup (Guinomi) with a dark, metallic shimmering glaze, whose fine, net-like patterning shifts in the light – a decor that lends classic Seto ware its unmistakable depth.

This Guinomi comes from Kato Shozan. The glaze spreads in dense, dark areas across the wall, interrupted by lighter, almost silvery shimmering areas that stand out to varying degrees depending on the incidence of light. The compact, slightly conical shape sits well in the hand and follows the traditional making of handcrafted sake cups, in which the potter's individual hand remains always visible.

The cup comes in a wood box signed by the artist and is suited both for refined sake culture and as a stand-alone collector's item.
