Description

A fine network of blue and rust-red lines covers the creamy-white, slightly crackled glaze of these five sake cups, giving each individual guinomi its own distinctive pattern. Despite their shared formal language, the cups differ in subtle nuances of color and texture, as is typical for handcrafted unique works.

The guinomi are crafted in the venerable Shino style, one of the oldest Japanese glazing techniques, known for its warm, shimmering surface and characteristic crackle patterns. Handcrafted from ceramics, the five-piece set was created in the Heisei period and is thus ideally suited for shared sake tasting in a small circle or as a representative ensemble for special occasions.

The set is delivered in a specially made, signed wooden box that securely holds the five cups and underscores their value. For lovers of Japanese sake culture and ceramics collectors, this Shino-yaki set represents a particularly fitting and skillfully crafted choice.
