Description
A single, lushly blooming peony in warm coral-orange dominates the slender body of this vase, accompanied by lush green leaves and a few small red berries. The reduced, clearly composed pictorial language draws the eye entirely to the blossom and gives the piece a calm, elegant effect.
The peony is regarded in Japan as the queen of flowers and symbolizes prosperity, honor, and beauty. Made of Kutani ware, this vase shows the fine brushwork typical of the tradition and the carefully applied color gradations that lend the blossom an almost sculptural depth.
The vase is delivered in a specially made, signed wooden box inscribed with Kabin (vase), confirming its high-quality origin. As a decorative one-of-a-kind piece, it is excellently suited for lovers of Japanese porcelain art who appreciate a restrained yet expressive motif.
