Description

A tea bowl with a warm reddish-brown Shino glaze, over which a fine white diamond pattern extends – a decor reminiscent of woven fabric that gives the bowl a particularly lively surface.

This chawan comes from Kizan Mizuno.

The transition between the reddish-brown and the lighter, almost bluish shimmering glaze areas arises from the characteristic reaction of the Shino glaze in the kiln and makes each piece a unique work. The applied diamond pattern was incised into the body before glazing or applied using a resist technique, so that the lighter clay color underneath remains visible in the desired areas.

The bowl comes in a wooden box signed by the master potter, which serves both as proof of authenticity and as a dignified storage for daily or ceremonial use.
